Two Strategic Niches for NM

The Plan starts from the premise that a sound niche strategy will be the most sustainable. It calls for two niches in which the State can excel.

Niche CollageNiche #1:
The first niche can be thought of as "a year-round Sundance Institute," for all types of media. It entails the creative development, production, and distribution of cutting-edge media in all forms, to become the world center for independents.

 

 


DiagramNiche #2:

The second niche is about a process, which can keep New Mexico at the leading edge of innovation. This “New Mexico way" will create a State-wide laboratory for the fusion of technology, art, science, and commerce, fueled by $6+ billion in federal R&D.

These two niches are based on New Mexico's unique strengths and assets, they align with industry trends, and they can be defended against competition. Taken together, they represent "altMediaNM."
